Last revised September 1, 2026 · how this desk is paid, and what that can change
This page is the accounting note. Insurance Coverage Center is paid by insurers, and any arrangement that affects money should be written down rather than left for a consumer to work out.
The desk reads documents, returns a written summary, records a reference, and introduces a consumer to a licensed producer or insurance company. It is not an insurance company and it is not the producer. It does not rate, underwrite, bind, issue, or service a policy, and it does not hold an appointment with any carrier.
Two sources only. First, a referral fee paid by an insurance company after a policy is written, out of that company's own budget. Second, a fixed fee from an advertiser for a labelled placement. Neither source is connected to a premium a consumer pays, and neither is charged to a consumer.
A referral fee can affect the following, and the desk treats each as a disclosure item rather than a private one:
A referral fee does not change a declared figure, a limit, a deductible, an exclusion, or a condition. Where the summary the desk prepares conflicts with a policy, the policy governs, and the desk will say so in writing.
There is no paid placement in any document summary, no paid rank inside a comparison, and no paid alteration of a figure. Advertising is confined to blocks that are labelled and visually distinct from the review material beside them. If a block cannot be labelled, it is not run.
Nothing. There is no subscription, no membership, no administrative charge, and no fee for a review or an introduction. If a page ever appears to ask for payment to obtain a quote, it is not this desk, and the request should be reported to [email protected].
The insurance company does, from its own underwriting. The factors commonly involved are the location and condition of the risk, the limits and deductibles requested, the claims history, the driving or exposure record, the rebuild or equipment valuation, and the regulatory rules of the state. Nothing on this site sets, promises, or guarantees a price.
The desk is not owned by, operated by, or exclusive to any insurance company. If a carrier relationship ends, the page is updated to say so, and the historical record shows when the change took effect.
Read the declarations page before a payment is authorised. Read the exclusions, not only the summary. Keep the endorsements with the policy. Confirm a producer's licence with the regulator in the state where the risk sits. Those four steps cost an afternoon and settle most of the questions that arise later.
Carrier relationships, fee structures, and advertising agreements change. When a change is material, the revision date at the top of this page moves with it.
